While the Atlantic 85 was on routine training exercises in the Solent area, Solent Coastguard requested that the Atlantic divert at 12:00pm to assist a 18ft Sports fisher vessel that had suffered engine failure. While on route to the casualties reported position it was established that they weren’t in the specified area so the crew used our direction finder to lock onto the casualty vessels radio signal to locate their exact location. Once on scene the casualty vessel was being towed in by a passing fishing vessel but it was decided that the Atlantic 85 would take over the tow and tow them into the camber docks in Portsmouth Harbour. Once safely alongside Solent Coastguard stood the Lifeboat down to return to station at 13:10pm
