While both boats were out on this Wednesday evening’s assessment night Solent Coastguard requested the D Class to go to the aid of a broken down yacht in the vicinity of Langstone Harbour. The yacht had its sails up however wasn’t making any headway as there was no wind. The Helmsman of the Atlantic 85 on station spotted a yacht with its occupants waving for assistance. The D Class arrived on scene and rigged up a tow and towed the vessel abit further towards the Lifeboat Station at which point they yacht managed to rectify its engine problems and then proceeded to make way under its own power. Solent Coastguard released the ILB to return to station at 20:53 with their thanks.
